Native Copper in Calcite

The ninth installment of Thumbnail Thursday is a Native Copper in Calcite from Tsumeb, Namibia. This piece is from a collection I recently purchased. It arrived in a decades old perky box. The label affixed to the box bears the date January 1st, 1975. I don’t know whether this is the date the specimen was mined or the date it was prepared. Suffice it to say, though, this piece is quite old and quite rare.

A thumbnail sized specimen is generally regarded as one that's between 25mm and 35mm and can fit inside a standard sized, 1.25" Perky box. I sell a variety of perky box products here at perkyboxes.com. I also sell filtered UV flashlights here.
